1:35 Rye Field Model 5010 Tiger I Middle Production w/Full Interior Plastic Model kit
Version Type Sd.Kfz.181 Pz.Kpfw.VI Ausf.E
The Tiger had an extremely massive appearance. The hull was in the form of a rectangular body with an armor plate of 100 mm at the front and 80 mm at the side and rear. On top of it was a horseshoe-shaped turret with the same armor specifications, except that the straight gun shell was up to 110mm thick in places. Although the tank was almost invulnerable to the armor grenades of other tanks in 1942, also due to the high quality of the armor steel, this did not last long. The tank may have a reputation for extreme armor, but it is undeserved. In fact, in relation to its enormous weight of 57 tons for the time, it was in fact extremely poorly armored, a consequence of the failing German tank design of those years: just one example of this is that the perpendicular plates did not make use of the ricochet effect. and the volume of the vehicle was surrounded very inefficiently. The Germans also did not have the capacity to cast large steel parts with curved shapes. The Panther was considerably better armored at the front than the Tiger.
