1:48 ICM 48399 US Aerial Target Drones - Ryan Firebee Plastic Model kit
The ICM 1:48 US Aerial Target Drones - Ryan Firebee is a detailed model kit depicting two famous unmanned aircraft from US Air Force history. In 1948, the USAF signed a contract with Ryan to develop a jet-powered unmanned aircraft for training purposes. The prototype, the XQ-2, had its first flight in 1951. After successful tests, it entered service as the Q-2A, also known as the Firebee. The US Navy used a slightly modified version, the KDA-1, while the USAF introduced the improved BQM-34A version in the 1960s.
This kit includes two models, the KDA-1 and BQM-34A, along with transport trolleys. The drones can be assembled either on the airfield or suspended under the wings of aircraft. This model is also compatible with other 1:48 scale aircraft models, such as the DB-26B/C or JD-1D Invader, which served as drone carriers.
